Acceptance & Eligibility
Our goal is simple: if we can safely support a youth, we say yes.
At Ranita’s, we believe every young person deserves stability, structure, and the opportunity to build a better future. We begin with the assumption that placement is possible and trust that the referring agent understands the youth’s needs and circumstances.
Whenever appropriate, we work closely with the youth and their referral agent to identify a safe and successful path to admission.
How Referrals Work
To be considered for placement at Ranita’s, a referral must come through an approved referral agency. If you are involved in the justice system, your referral agent will work directly with us throughout the placement process. We are unable to accept self-referrals from youth.
Acceptance Criteria
1. Eligibility
Youth must meet the eligibility requirements established by their referral agency or governing authority. Eligibility may be based on factors such as age, legal status, correctional client status, mental health needs, and alcohol or drug dependence.
2. Assessment
Ranita’s completes a holistic assessment to understand each youth’s needs and determine whether we can safely and effectively provide support. This assessment considers behavioral, emotional, medical, and safety-related factors. As an ambulatory-only facility, Ranita’s cannot safely accommodate youth who require mobility aids.
3. Capacity & Availability
Acceptance is also dependent on bed availability, staffing capacity, and the level of support required. Priority may be given to youth who have an immediate need for placement.
Review & Documentation
Each referral is reviewed individually by Juanita Banks, Administrator, and Ray Banks, Co-Owner of Ranita’s. Admission decisions are based on a holistic evaluation of the youth’s needs and a genuine commitment to finding a safe path to acceptance whenever possible. All decisions are documented and supported by an initial assessment that considers health needs, daily living skills, emotional well-being, safety considerations, and individualized care goals.
