How Tier Movement Works
Every youth at Ranita’s moves through our continuum of care at their own pace. There is no set timeline. Progress is based on what you demonstrate, not the calendar.
What We Look For
Movement between tiers is based on real, demonstrated growth, not a countdown. We look at the same eight areas covered in our Life Skills Program: daily living skills, money management, work and school engagement, healthy relationships and communication, health and safety, emotional regulation, and community navigation.
Staff engage with youth every day and document their observations. Progress is regularly shared with each youth’s referral agent, ensuring that movement between tiers is based on a clear, documented pattern of readiness.
How Movement Between Tiers Works
Tier 1 → Tier 2:
Youth begin at our main location with 24/7 onsite staff support. As they build trust, demonstrate responsibility, and make progress in the Life Skills Program, a readiness assessment is completed to determine whether they are prepared to move to Tier 2, where day-to-day supervision is reduced.
Tier 2 → Tier 3:
Youth continue developing independence while living in offsite housing. As they demonstrate sustained readiness and meet age and program requirements, a readiness assessment is completed to determine whether they are prepared for Tier 3 and full independent living.
What This Means for Agents, Parents, and Youth
- Referral agents can expect regular readiness updates and documentation as youth progress.
- Parents can expect that movement reflects real, demonstrated growth — not a countdown.
- Youth should know: this isn’t about how fast you go, it’s about showing that you’re ready.
Everyone moves at their own pace.
